In order to provide the best Internetwork connectivity for the sites we host we have a policy to always peer with a minimum of two upstream providers at least one of which being a tier one provider. The technology we use for upstream failure prevention is BGP4 configured on our Cisco routing equipment. We are members of the Ripe NCC (AS34679) and benefit from having our own AS and IP allocation. This means we have the freedom to migrate to new providers without the need to re-number our network, and most importantly, without imposing downtime on our clients websites. This in turn allows us to bargain hard for the best pricing in bandwidth, which we then pass on to our clients. Currently we are connected to three upstream providers for our global transit. A fourth
provider (Tiscali) will be added to our network by 19th November 2006.
